Make Kansas more affordable
Property taxes and the cost of living are top concerns across southwest Wichita. Nick will pursue relief without creating future budget problems.
Nick supports increasing the residential exemption from the statewide school property tax, limiting spending growth, and reviewing whether existing programs deliver results. He believes excess surplus revenue should be returned to taxpayers. Nick will also protect grocery sales tax relief and the state income tax exemption for Social Security benefits.
Keep neighborhoods safe
Safe communities need effective law enforcement, support for victims, and treatment options for people in crisis.
Nick will target fentanyl traffickers and support the staffing, training, and equipment that officers and first responders need. He will pursue stronger protections for crime victims, update juvenile justice laws where public safety requires it, and expand mental-health and substance-use treatment capacity.
Build homes Kansans can afford
Kansas needs more homes working families can afford. Building on the HOME Act (SB 418), Nick will keep working to remove unnecessary barriers to construction.
Nick supports clear permitting deadlines, fewer excessive minimum-lot and parking mandates, and planning for the roads, water, sewer, and other infrastructure that responsible housing growth requires.
Strengthen schools and our workforce
Students deserve strong schools, and Kansas employers need graduates ready for opportunities here at home.
Nick supports stronger special-education services, more funding in classrooms, and accountability for student results. He also wants to expand career and technical education and apprenticeships, and better connect colleges and technical schools with Kansas jobs.
Protect retirement security
Kansas should honor the retirement benefits public employees have earned and keep the system strong for future generations.
Nick supports responsible funding to protect KPERS, the benefits promised to workers and retirees, and dependable retirement systems for police officers, firefighters, and other public-safety professionals.
Demand accountable government
Taxpayers deserve careful spending, open government, and a clear account of what state programs accomplish.
Nick will work to control spending growth and scrutinize new costs. He supports public reporting that shows where tax dollars go, removing outdated regulations that add cost without a clear benefit, and keeping major local decisions close to the communities they affect.
